Applicants must provide a Canadian-certified translation of any required document that is not in English or French. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Government-issued identification (ID)
- Supporting documents submitted as part of the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or application process
Who may translate the document
The translation must be completed by a certified translator based in Canada, who is a member in good standing of a recognized Canadian translation society, such as any member organization under the Canadian Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters Council (CTTIC) or the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ). To find a certified translator, please visit the website of a recognized Canadian translation society, where you can access a directory of certified members.
Translations completed by non-certified translators or those based outside Canada will not be accepted.
Translation format and verification
Certified translators must:
- Translate the document into English or French.
- Prepare the translation in digital format (PDF preferred).
- Include a digital seal or certificate of authenticity:
- This may be a signed certificate of accuracy, official translator seal, or a digital certificate issued by a recognized Canadian translation society.
- The certificate must clearly identify the translator and confirm their certified status.
- Include the identification number, name, address, email, and telephone number of the translator.
Direct submission by the translator
Translations must be submitted directly by the translator to CAMLPR. Translators must:
- Send the original and the translated documents from their professional email address to CAMLPR at documents@camlpr.org.
- Reference the applicant’s full name and CAMLPR ID (if known) in the email subject line or message.
Applicant responsibilities
Applicants are responsible for:
- Uploading the original version of the document (in the original language) during the application process.
- Arranging for a certified Canadian translator to complete and submit the translation.
- Paying all costs related to translation services.
