The self-administered readiness assessment (SARA) is a practice tool designed to help applicants evaluate whether they are ready to write the CAMLPR Fields-of-Practice Exams and identify areas in which they may need additional preparation.
Self-Administered Readiness Assessment (SARA) Overview
The SARA contains sample exam questions in each field of practice to help you:
- Become familiar with the question format of the CAMLPR Fields-of-Practice Exams
- Assess your strengths and development needs according to Canadian professional standards
- Help focus your preparation on fields of practice where additional study may be beneficial
The SARA also provides competency profile checklists to be used as a tool to identify areas in each field of practice where you feel confident and areas that require further study.
For applicants who have completed international MLT education, non-traditional education, or Canadian MLT Education over 24 months ago, the SARA will also include questions that allow you to self-assess your professional foundations for MLT practice.
The SARA is a preparation tool for your personal guidance only. SARA results will not be reviewed by CAMLPR or regulators to determine eligibility for the Flexible Pathways process or for provincial registration.
Do I need to complete the Self-Administered Readiness Assessment?
Completion of the self-administered readiness assessment is required for applicants who must undergo a CAMLPR Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) before being granted CAMLPR exam eligibility. While SARA scores do not count towards a field-of-practice exam or registration, completing the SARA is a mandatory step for any applicants that require a PLA.
For all other applicants, the self-administered readiness assessment is optional.
How can I complete the Self-Administered Readiness Assessment?
After CAMLPR approves your Flexible Pathways account creation and fee payment, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the self-administered readiness assessment (SARA). This process typically takes some time to complete and depends on current application volumes.
You can complete the SARA within the applicant portal after you receive your access notification. If you require a CAMLPR Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), you will need to complete SARA before being provided with access to apply for an PLA.
